Fleet Management Solutions via Internet

Introduction:
Having a mobile workforce for any type of business requires more effective management skills than those required for office management. Employees and steady assets in the office are in a controlled environment with managerial observation, but for your employees and assets in the field you may not know where your vehicles are and what the current progress is for your work and so on.

Is your business having late deliveries? Do you have new orders? Do you worry whether your drivers are implementing your regulations?

Were you alerted because your driver left or entered a route or region not designated? Did he lose his way or take a break during an urgent delivery? And the list of questions goes on… These questions are answered usually with what drivers report in log sheets to their managers at the end of work when the assigned job was uncompleted for any reason. Such a case usually ends up with unexpected costs for most businesses. Thus, considering the risks of your mobile business, as they increase, so will the operational costs and the relative price of service you provide.

Vehicles carry valuable and time-sensitive assets. Vehicles are valuable themselves whether you haul your own cargo or someone else's. Knowing where your vehicle is, what it is doing, and when it is due to arrive at its destination is indispensable for your business. It is not just a matter of freight transportation. Tracking an ambulance and guiding it through busy streets or slow moving freeways can literally be a matter of life and death. From rent-a-car agencies and police patrols, to yachting teams in the high seas; from school services to express delivery vans, vehicles in almost every imaginable situation can be implemented for effective fleet management.

Smart Vehicle Tracking Systems (SVTS):
Recent developments in the Global Positioning System (GPS) and wireless communication technology have been integrated together under SVTS trademark by Teknobil, Istanbul, Turkey. With this cost-effective technology, it has never been easier to monitor vehicles and get information. SVTS gives a great opportunity to managers to manage their fleets. This intelligent system works like an agent of your business, tracking all activities of your fleet vehicles such as speed, location, traveled distance, trips, routes etc, and reports automatically to your computer. The system will recognize and report to you all these events automatically, even if you are on a business trip or vacation.

With SVTS, organizations have at their disposal an effective tool for the control and tracking of their vehicle fleets. SVTS brings measurable time and cost savings. It also promotes fair employee management, the prevention of misuse, and employee safety. SVTS can support bi-directional communication between vehicles and a control center. This communication can be in the form of data line, text messaging, and SMS or voice communication.

How does the System Work?
System consists of mainly three elements:

  1. Vehicle Units
  2. Control Center
  3. Communication Channels

Vehicle Units mounted to every vehicle determine speed and position information using GPS signals. Speed, time and position information are transferred to the Control Center. Communications between the Control Center and vehicles are carried out using the GSM/GPRS network and/or Thuraya satellites. Hence, users can manage and track their fleets on scalable digital maps that can be broadened to a continental level or narrowed down to street level.

SVTS Manager Software
With a user-friendly interface, SVTS provides full flexibility with your fleet management. SVTS Manager enables multiple users access to the system with its powerful client-server architecture.Using SVTS Manager, it is possible to generate reports and get notification or alerts upon your request. Users can define a route, region and control locations in order to see company headquarters, branches, customer locations, and other places of interest on digital maps with GPS accuracy. With Smart-event based opportunity it is possible to receive alerts for any condition you previously specified.

Internet based tracking
iSVTS is Internet-based vehicle tracking and fleet management software. It enables the manager to track and manage multiple vehicles simultaneously, anytime, anywhere. With iSVTS, users can access their vehicles from any computer online using their accounts. iSVTS provides flexibility for full fleet management.

In the current competitive business world, all firms need to be more efficient and powerful. Incidentally, for companies having a mobile workforce, rapidly increasing operational costs are the focus. Firms which have continued to the up-to-date and cost-effective technologies in their businesses have always been the industry leaders, and will continue to lead in the future.
