One of the biggest values of companies are their assets. Application of state-of-the-art techniques, when supported by the latest devices will always bring the success and reputation for a company. Nevertheless, using the latest technologies is always expensive. In the field of geomatics, the latest technology is almost always supported by developments in the hardware and other equipment. This obviously results in high prices and project costs. Thus, having the state-of-the-art technology is expensive, but inevitable, especially for companies pioneering the field, such as GeoTech Group. As a result, tracking assets is as important as using the latest technology and our in-house developed Inventory Tracking System fulfills this important requirement.
Our company’s budget covers more than just equipment. We have funds earmarked for personnel and vehicles as well. A vehicle should always be maintained well. Expiration dates of visas, passports and work permits are other important business items that a multinational company must take into account and handle carefully. A missed expiration date for a visa could result in undesired results for a company, such as rendering an employee unable to complete necessary tasks.
GeoTech Group strongly believes in the importance of monitoring and tracking a company’s assets. To address this, GeoTech Group has developed its own in-house Inventory Tracking and Monitoring application.
In keeping with today’s web–oriented world, the application is web–based. All the administrators and responsible parties can access the application from their web browsers to perform their duties.
When an expiration date (for passport, visa, work permits, etc.) is near, the application alerts the responsible party so that the issue may be immediately addressed.
There are several modules installed within the program such as:
- Total asset management
- Iqama/Visa/Passport monitoring
- Vehicle monitoring (not a vehicle tracking system, but can be used with popular vehicle tracking systems)
- Vacation monitoring
- Employee tracking
- Custom alerts

Main features of the application are as follows:
- Employees’ non-confidential information—personal details, vacation dates, etc.
- Various predefined listing options, such as listing available parts, borrowed parts, etc.
- Report generation of the items in an employee’s possession – viewable in a browser window or printer friendly
- Warnings and alerts displayed to inform the administrator about the important issues (visa/passport/work permit, maintenance expiration, etc.)
- Vehicles, handled separately, together with maintenance information
- Parts and Fixed Assets, divided into several categories
- Computers, handled separately
- Lend/borrow history for parts/employees
- Lend/borrow history of an item
Inventory Tracking Application has been developed by the IT & Application Development Department of GeoTech Group.
The application is at alpha-testing stage and when it’s done, it will be made available to the public. The beauty of the application is the web-based architecture and user-administration scheme.
