The first GeoInformation Day of Saudi Arabia was initiated and organized by the GeoTech Group to share our knowledge on the emerging Geomatics Engineering and Information Technology (IT). It was a day-long event which started at around 9 and finished about an hour later than originally anticipated due to high attendance at the talks. The focus of the workshop was the importance of the integration of several disciplines, including, but not limited to, geography, information technology, surveying and mapping.
There were 10 talks on the importance of geoinformation, IT, the importance of virtual reality and a demonstration of it, geoinformation activities in KSA, sample projects, etc. All of the participants agreed on the importance of this event. As Dr. Kamil Eren has said, “GeoTech Group hopes that this event will soon be Saudi Arabia’s GeoInformation Event and that the event will be extended to span several days (in order to have ample opportunity) to exchange expertise and knowledge among the specialists.” GeoTech Group hosted over 100 participants in this special event. In addition to GeoTech Group’s promotional materials, attendees enjoyed GeoTech Quarterly on this special occasion.
